Military airstrikes neutralize 13 ISWAP terrorists in Borno

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Super Tucano fighter jets have killed 13 Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists in the Tumbums triangle of Lake Chad region in Borno state.
The targeted aerial bombardments, also destroyed a bomb-making factory on the shores of the Lake.

A counter-insurgency expert, in the region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, over the weekend (Friday), in Maiduguri that the destroyed bomb-making factory, was used in the production of Vehicle-Borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED) in the general area of Tumbums.
He said that the onslaught attack, led by Maj-Gen. Ibrahim Ali, the Theatre Commander, North East Joint Task Force, Operation Hadin Kai, was executed on June 14, 2023 at Tumbun Bakkassi hideouts.
“The Bakkassi area, in one of the identified strategic locations used for the fabrication of all forms of explosive devices in the region,” he said, adding that the highly volatile SVBIEDs are apparently deployed on troops’ locations at Arege in Abadam Local Council of the state.
A military source also confirmed that the strikes were part of retaliatory air strikes on terrorists after their attempted attack on a Nigerian Army location at Mallam Fatori, the Council Headquarters of Abadam.
Similarly, it was gathered that a NAF aircraft under the Air Component of Operation Hadin Kai carried out a series of air strikes on terrorists’ locations in the Tumbun Shittu on the fringe of region.
Since June 6, 2023, the NAF had intensive it’s Air offensive Operations in the North East under the nicknamed: Operation Warun III.
This led to the elimination more than 100 Boko Haram terrorists, unit commanders and high value fighters in Mandara Mountain of Gwoza Local Government Area.
