Minister Inspects 91 Orphanages in Abuja on First Lady’s Directive
Minister of Women Affairs, Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, has begun inspecting 91 orphanages in Abuja, aligning with the First Lady’s mandate to review the Child Rights Act of 2003 and the regulations governing orphanage operations in Nigeria.
During her visit to an orphanage in Gwagwalada, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the minister highlighted the initiative’s goal to address mistreatment in orphanages and enhance their responsiveness to children’s welfare.
She reaffirmed the administration’s commitment under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda to strengthen social protection systems, particularly for vulnerable groups.
On behalf of the First Lady, Sulaiman-Ibrahim donated food items to support the children’s needs. She noted that this inspection marks the beginning of a nationwide project, starting in Abuja.
