MNJTF Delivers Life-Changing Water Facility to Chad’s Litri Community
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) has taken a significant step towards improving the lives of communities in the Lake Chad region by delivering a solar-powered borehole to the Litri community in Chad. Located approximately 5 kilometers from Nigeria’s border, this community will now have access to clean and safe water thanks to the MNJTF’s efforts.
The solar-powered borehole, with a tank capacity of 10 cubic meters, was inaugurated by Force Commander Major General Ibrahim Ali. The event was attended by key military commanders, staff officers, and representatives from Defence Council International.
General Ali emphasized that this project, made possible through the European Union’s support, symbolizes the shared commitment to ensuring communities’ fundamental right to access clean water. He urged the Litri community to make judicious use of the facility, hinting that more initiatives will follow if the facility is well-managed.
The representative of the Sector 2 Commander, Brigadier General Oumar Adam Silik in his remarks praised the successful collaboration between the military and civilian population. He called for continued support from partners to expand such initiatives to other communities.
This essential facility, is the result of a partnership between MNJTF, Defense Council International (DCI), and TRACT SARL, funded by the European Union.
The Litri community expressed gratitude to MNJTF for their contributions to their well-being. The boulama of Litri noted that the water facility demonstrates MNJTF’s genuine concern for improving access to clean water and enhancing the community’s quality of life.
This initiative is part of MNJTF’s broader efforts to stabilize communities around the Lake Chad basin, as seen in their previous water project commissioning in Barkalam Sector 2, Chad.
