In a significant blow to the Boko Haram terrorist group, troops of Sector 3 of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) successfully neutralized 4 insurgents in separate operations in Northern Borno State, Nigeria.
The engagements according to the Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, took place in the areas of Walo (Gashigar) and Kudagurgu (south of Malam Fatori) on 21 November 2023.
The operation in Walo (Gashigar) yielded the elimination of 2 Boko Haram terrorists as troops advanced to clear out remnants of the group. This success was accompanied by the recovery of 2 AK-47 rifles, 3 magazines, and 29 rounds of 7.62-millimeter special ammunition.
In a parallel effort, troops deployed in Malam Fatori conducted a fighting patrol to Kudagurgu, where 2 additional terrorists were neutralized. The patrol also led to the recovery of a significant cache of items, including materials used for constructing improvised explosive devices (IEDs), along with one AK-47 rifle and 3 magazines.
These operations he said, underscore the unwavering commitment and courage displayed by the Sector 3 MNJTF troops in their relentless pursuit to eradicate terrorism and establish a secure environment in the Lake Chad Basin region. The retrieval of lethal weapons and other materials associated with terrorism serves as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the troops in safeguarding the region’s safety and security.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdullahi, reaffirmed the MNJTF’s steadfast dedication to achieving its mandate. The successful operations and the elimination of Boko Haram insurgents demonstrate the coalition’s resolve to combat terrorism and restore peace to the region.
