NAF Escalates Air Strikes Against Terrorists’ Enclaves in Katsina, Zamfara States
Air strikes conducted by the air component of Operation Hadarin Daji have delivered positive results in Safana Local Government of Katsina State and Birnin Magaji Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State.
The strikes, carried out on 5 March 2024, targeted the stronghold of the notorious terrorist leader, Maudi Maudi, and other terrorist kingpins in Safana LGA. The operations were based on thorough Intelligence Surveillance and Reconnaissance efforts in the area, identifying clusters of huts amid rocky terrain where armed terrorists were observed loitering. Following confirmation of the significant terrorist presence, authorization for the strikes was granted. A subsequent Battle Damage Assessment revealed the targeted location engulfed in flames, with some survivors seen fleeing the scene. While many terrorists were eliminated, the fate of Maudi Maudi remains unconfirmed.
Further strikes on 6 March 2024 targeted the stronghold of infamous terrorist kingpin Alhaji Na-Shama, located to the East of Ussu village within the Nasarawar Mailayi District in the Birnin Magaji LGA of Zamfara State. Reliable human intelligence sources have confirmed the neutralization of several of Na-Shama’s associates and the complete destruction of his camp and logistical infrastructure. However, it is yet to be verified whether Na-Shama himself was among the casualties of the operation.

The precision strikes by NAF aircraft have continued to give the expected outcomes with the elimination of several terrorists and the destruction of their means of mobility. These efforts served to protect civilian lives as well as disrupt their logistics support bases and motorcycles. This proactive approach aligns with the mission objectives of Operation Hadarin Daji, which majorly focuses on securing the Northwestern region of Nigeria from the menace of terrorism, kidnapping and banditry.
