The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has pledged its support for the Nigerian film industry, popularly known as Nollywood, with a promise to provide equipment and resources for movie productions that showcase the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) in a positive light.
This development came as the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Hasan Abubakar, hosted renowned Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham, at his office on May 30, 2024.
During the meeting, Air Marshal Abubakar expressed his admiration for Abraham’s contributions to the Nigerian film industry and acknowledged the positive impact of Nollywood in showcasing Nigeria’s diverse and rich cultural heritage, both locally and internationally.
The CAS highlighted the importance of leveraging Nollywood’s influence to foster a positive image of the AFN, particularly in the ongoing fight against criminality in the country. He assured Abraham of NAF’s support through the provision of equipment required to interpret movies that would be mutually beneficial.
Toyin Abraham, who is known for her roles in movies such as “Celebrity Marriage” and “The Ghost and the Tout,” expressed her enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the role of storytelling in bridging gaps and fostering unity. She committed to projects that would portray the NAF and AFN in a positive light, highlighting the bravery and dedication of its personnel.
The meeting was facilitated by Abraham’s request for NAF equipment in shooting her upcoming movie, titled “Alakada; Bad and Bougee.” She was accompanied by her manager, Mr. Samuel Olatunji.
This collaboration is expected to promote a positive image of the AFN and showcase the NAF’s contributions to national security and development.
