NARC DG tasks children, youths on reading habits

The Director-General, Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Major General Garba Ayodeji Wahab (Rtd) has urged children and youths to develop good reading habits to improve their knowledge.
Wahab gave the charge on Thursday, during the “Book Reading and Essay Competition Volume 2” at City Library Abuja.
Represented by Major Gen. Adamu Tarfa, the DG highlighted that reading is a daily activity especially for the youths, adding that one cannot progress without reading.

“We hope that essential programmes like these, will not only be in Abuja but all over the country so that children and youths will develop the habit of reading.

“Reading is important because when you read, you have cognitive development and empathy.
“Reading expand knowledge all over the world, starting from your understanding, it also develops a relationship with others by exchange of ideas,” he said.
The DG encouraged children and youths to continue to read to improve their knowledge, vocabulary, and understanding.
