NAWOJ donates education materials to 100 school girls in Bauchi

The Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Bauchi State Chapter on Monday has donated learning materials to no fewer than 100 girls at Birshi Fulani Primary and Secondary School in Bauchi state.
The gesture was to commemorate the 2021 International Day of the girl child.

Speaking at the occasion, NAWOJ Chairperson, Bauchi state, Mrs. Bulak Afsa said that the gesture was to encourage girl- child enrollment in school and complement government’s efforts in the education sector.
Bulak said that the association was celebrating with school girls in the state by distributing writing materials to them, stressing that education is the backbone of development of any society.
“The materials will support the beneficiaries to obtain basic education.We want girls to be educated and become useful members of the society because if you educate a girl, you have empowered her family and the society at large”, she said.

Receiving the materials, the Principal of the school, Mrs Maryam Garu appreciated the gesture and promised to ensure that the materials were put to effective use.
However, the SUBEB Chairman represented by the Director School Services, Alhaji Korijo Buba Umar, commended the state chapter of the association for advocating for the education of girls, urging individuals and corporate bodies to support the efforts.
