NDE, Yobe train 300 women on skills acquisition, trades

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) in partnership with Yobe State Ministry of Women Affairs has trained 300 women on various skills acquisition and trades.
According to the Directorate, the one-week training was to engage women restore their mane in means of livelihoods in the 15-year Boko Haram insurgency in the state.
Declaring the training sessions, yesterday (Tuesday), in Damaturu, the Commissioner of Women Affairs, Hajiya Yahalo Badama disclosed: “Today’s event marks our collaboration with the NDE to empower the vulnerable women restore their means of livelihoods in the skills to be acquired.”
She said that the skills are in catering, salon hair-dressing, tailoring and other income-generating vocational skills.
She noted that the skills to be acquired, could develop the local economies of their communities across the state.
The Commissioner, therefore, urged them to fully participate in the training, and judiciously employed the acquired skills to improve their livelihoods.
NDE State Coordinator, represented by Habu Chiroma said that the training is categorized into different schemes, comprising on income activities, online and organic supplements among others.
