Nigerian Army Cracks Down on Oil Bunkering, Recovers 115,000 Liters of Stolen Crude

Troops of the 6 Division, Nigerian Army, have dismantled several illegal bunkering sites and recovered 115,000 liters of stolen crude oil in ongoing operations. The successful raids, conducted across Rivers, Bayelsa, Delta, and Akwa Ibom states, demonstrate the military’s resolve to combat economic sabotage.
In Rivers State, troops dismantled 15 illegal refining sites, arrested 10 suspects, and seized 11 vehicles and several boats. Meanwhile, in Bayelsa State, active illegal refining sites were deactivated, resulting in the recovery of over 2,800 liters of stolen product.
In Delta State, a trailer siphoning crude from a pipeline was intercepted, leading to the arrest of two individuals. Additionally, in Akwa Ibom State, troops intercepted three drums of premium motor spirit suspected to be smuggled to a neighboring country.
According to the Acting Director of Army Public Relations Lieutenant Colonel DJ Danjuma, beyond these key operations, the Nigerian Army also achieved other notable successes. He added that, troops destroyed 30 cooking pots and several wooden boats, recovered items used for economic sabotage, and arrested suspects with stolen condensates. These accomplishments demonstrate the military’s unwavering commitment to combating economic sabotage and protecting national security.
