The Kaduna state government said 11 bandits were killed by the Nigerian army and special forces in combat in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.
It is recalled that the Birnin Gwari area is known as the centre of gang activity in the state and is where the majority of kidnappings take place.
Samuel Aruwan, the commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, confirmed in a statement released on Sunday in Kaduna that 11 bandits had been killed.

He explained that in the course of these operations, the forces made contact with bandits at Kakangi and Katakaki.
“A fierce gun battle followed, after which the criminals were subdued by the troops’ aggressive firepower.
“Eleven bandits were confirmed neutralised, as others fled.
“After the battle, the troops exploited the location and recovered two AK-47 rifles, two AK-47 magazines and 57 rounds of ammunition,” he said.
The commissioner said Gov. Nasir El-Rufai expressed his satisfaction with the laudable efforts of the troops.
