Nigerian Army to investigate killing of Islamic Cleric

The Nigerian Army said it has launched an investigation into the killing of the prominent Muslim cleric of Yobe state, Sheikh Goni Aisami.
The deputy director of public relations of the second command of Operation Hadin Kai, Kennedy Anyawu disclosed this on Sunday in Damaturu.
According to Anyanwu, the command has already arrested two soldiers, Corporal John Gabriel and Corporal Adamu Gideon in connection with the killing of the cleric.

He added that the command in collaboration with the Yobe State Police Force will conduct an investigation to identify those who committed this crime.
“If the investigation is completed and those who committed the murder are found, they will surely face proper punishment that should be given by the command.”
The killing of the cleric from Yobe State has attracted the attention of a lot of people in the country, especially social media users.
Last Friday, the Muslim cleric was killed while driving his car on the way to Gashua from Nguru.
