Nigerian Troops Capture Notorious Terrorist Habu Dogo, Arrest 7 IPOB/ESN Commanders
The Defence Headquarters announced that Nigerian troops have successfully apprehended Abubakar Ibrahim, also known as Habu Dogo, a notorious terrorist leader, during recent operations in Sokoto. The capture was part of ongoing counterterrorism efforts to weaken terrorist capabilities nationwide.
Maj.-Gen. Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, confirmed in a Saturday statement that Habu Dogo was arrested in Rumji Village, Illela Local Government Area, Sokoto State. Known for cross-border terrorism impacting both Nigeria and Niger Republic, Habu Dogo had been on security agencies’ wanted list.
Additionally, seven suspected IPOB/ESN commanders were arrested in the South-East. Among them, Dr. Nnamdi Chukwudoze and Chigozie Ezetoha (alias Chapet) were detained in Ihiala Local Government Area, Anambra State. In Abia State, Mrs. Ngozi Chukwuka and Mr. Oyekachi Ohia were captured in Umuahia South, while Mr. Ifeanyi Eze, Mr. Augustine Udemba, and Mr. Onyedikachi Udemba were apprehended in Umunneochi. Elijah Mmaduipeya Obumneke was arrested in Orsu, Imo State.
Maj.-Gen. Buba emphasized that ongoing counterinsurgency and counterterrorism operations continue to diminish the operational strength of terrorist groups across Nigeria.
