NIS rescues 6 victims of human trafficking in Jigawa

The state Comptroller of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Jigawa State Command, Ahmed Dauda Bagari, says six victims of human trafficking were recently rescued in Babura town near the Nigeria/Niger Republic borders.
Briefing reporters at the command headquarters in Dutse, DCI Muhammad Idris paraded the suspected victims and turned them over to NAPTIP for further investigation on behalf of the state comptroller.
He stated that the victims were rescued on January 1st, 2023 in an unfinished structure in Babura town while their route to Niger Republic via Libya.

He said the victims were made up of five females and one male. “The five were from Oyo State and the only one among them was from Nasarawa State.
“The victims are youths aged between 20 and 35 years old and none of them was in possession of any travel document,” he explained.
DCI Idris stated that no incriminating items/drugs were discovered in their possession during their interrogation by the NIS men.
