The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) has on Thursday caution against diversion of petroleum products, as well as enforced Federal Government (FG) approved price of N165:00 in Bauchi
Mr Nurudeen Abdullahi, NSCDC Commandant Bauchi Command gave the warning during monitoring of petroleum stations in Bauchi, saying it’s necessary to monitor and enforce the regulated price.
He said the Command had embarked on monitoring petroleum stations across the state to enforce regulated price of the product, stop selling adulterated products, hoarding and diversion of the products.
“Some filling stations, especially on the outskirts of the state capital, were dispensing a litre of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) at between N185 and N200.
“Some filling stations were discovered to be shortchanging customers through under-dispensing and product hoarding which.
“So we have to go round the filling stations and ensure that pump price is N165:00, no adulterated fuel sales to citizens as well as stop hoarding and buying in jerricans,” he said.
Abdullahi said the monitoring is a continuous process, adding that the command would relent until the issue is over.
He said the command would allow those that want to sabotage FG efforts and consumers by increasing fuel prices indiscriminately.
The Commandant urged owners of petroleum stations to be fair and just while selling the products to customers.
He also warned against product diversion, saying that errant marketers would be arrested and dealt with according to the law.
Our correspondent reports that some residents in Bauchi have urged FG to ensure its agencies regulate the sale of petroleum products and stopped filling stations from selling above the approved price.
Meanwhile, the Commandant lauded Governor Bala Mohammed for providing enough land for the construction of the permanent office of the state command in the state.
