Oyo residents protest over fuel, naira notes scarcity

Apprehension in Ibadan ,Oyo State capital as what was supposed to be a peaceful protest at gate area of the city turned out to be violent resulting in attacks on some commercial banks.
A witness told NORTHEAST STAR that the protest started around eleven o’clock in the morning with some Youths calling on the Federal government to find a lasting solution to the problems faced with the new naira notes and the lingering fuel crisis.
Agodi police post was during the protest set on fire while some commercial banks were also vandalized.

Report says security operatives positioned to prevent breakdown of law and order allegedly fled from the scene.
The Protesters majorly youths armed with weapons later gained entrance into the Oyo state Secretariat.
It was gathered that a police officer that tried to prevent them from entering the governor’s office was attacked and rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
When Contacted , The Oyo state police public relations officer Adéwálé Oshifeso said he would brief the media later.
