Meanwhile, The All Progressive Congress (APC) Bauchi State Chapter has rejected the results of the local government elections conducted on August 17, 2024, by the Bauchi State Independent Electoral Commission (BASIEC).
At a press conference, the party’s chairman, Alhaji Muhammad Hassan, described the election as a “broad-day robbery of franchise and murder of democracy.”
He cited numerous irregularities, including inadequate election materials, withheld sensitive materials and result sheets, votes allocation to the ruling PDP, absence of Returning officers, and abandonment of election materials at Polling Units.
He also alleged instances of ballot box snatching, massive thumb printing of ballot papers for PDP, and votes allocation to PDP candidates across all the Local Governments of Bauchi State.
Hassan demands for the immediate resignation of BASIEC Chairman Alhaji Ahmad Makama, cancellation of the election, and dissolution of the current BASIEC management team.
He also called for a fresh election to be conducted by a credible team, ensuring a free, fair, and credible process in line with international best practices.
The Chairman reaffirmed its commitment to exploring all legal avenues to reclaim its mandate and ensure that the right thing is done.
Hassan expressed disappointment in the failure of BASIEC to uphold the sanctity of the electoral process and resist the PDP Government’s quest for political dominance against the popular will of the people of Bauchi State.
He urged its supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, assuring them that the party would do everything within its power to address the situation and ensure justice is served.
