Police arrest 51 suspects for rape, kidnaps, robberies in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has arrested 51 suspects for alleged rape, kidnappings and armed robberies in the state.
According to him, the suspects were arrested in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC), Jere, Hawul and Askira/Uba councils last December and this year.
Parading the suspects yesterday (Friday), at the Maiduguri Police Headquarters, the Police Commissioner, Abdu Umar disclosed: “Aisha Sani of Kaleri area, Maiduguri reported at the Gwange Police that Husaif Abdulrauf of 303 Housing Estate deceived her younger sister, Aisha Mohammed Adam, 18 of the same address.
He said that Abdulrauf lured Aisha into his room and allegedly had sexual intercourse with her.
Besides, later the victim was said to have stabbed herself with a knife in the stomach which resulted in serious injuries.
Continued: “While rushing Aisha to the UMTH by the suspect in his car marked, KRD 116 DJ, Lagos, against traffic and hit Nasiru Suleiman, 30 of Mairi Kuwait area of Maiduguri,” assuring that investigation is ongoing to prosecute the suspect.
He further disclosed that both victims were rushed to the hospital, where Aisha gave up the ghost, while Suleiman was admitted at UMTH.
On the arrest of Ahmed Umar Goni, he said the CSO of El-Kanemi College of Islamic Theology, Maiduguri reported Ahmed Umar Goni, an SS11 student of the same College for inflicting deep cuts with a razor blade on an 11-year Jibrin Sadi Mato’s neck at the hostel.
He said that while the victim is at the hospital’s ICU, the suspect was arrested and admitted to the offence, as he was not pleased being a boarding student of the College.
“The suspect decided to commit the act so that he would be sent out of the hostel,” said Umar.
Other arrests include Abdullahi Sanusi, 13 for stabbing Mohammed Abdullahi, 19 at the neck to death for unpaid consumption of sugarcane, three suspects for criminal conspiracy and armed robberies in Gwange community, three kidnappers in Hauwul council and demanded a ransom of N6, 000.
He said Passey Anthony was also arrested for possession of 67 fake official stamps of the military, police, Borno state and local governments, Ramat Polytechnic and secondary schools.
According to him, the stamps were forged with the connivance of one Babale and Elson at the Post Office, Maiduguri.
He further disclosed that eight suspects were also arrested for possession of dangerous weapons to incite public disturbances.
Besides, he added that 14 suspects were arrested for shop and house burglaries in the Abbaganaram ward of Maiduguri
