Police arrest four suspects for criminal conspiracy, assault in Borno
Tada JUTHA, Maiduguri
The Borno State Police Command has arrested four suspects for criminal conspiracy and assault in Maiduguri metropolis.
According to the Police, the suspects are, however; loyal to Hon. Ahmed Satomi, representing Jere federal constituency at National Assembly.
They include Nasiru Abubakar, Bello Madusa, Ali Dungus Shettima and Malam Mohammed, while two other suspects are at large.
While parading the arrested persons, yesterday in Maiduguri, the Police Commissioner, Abdu Umar said: “On January 23, 2022, at 2.30 pm, a gang of hoodlums loyal to Satomi, were engaged by Sa’adu Sulaiman and invaded Zahura Restaurant at Sanda Kyarimi Park, Maiduguri.”
He said that the restaurant that belongs to Fadila Abdulrahman, 29, and a member of the Police Public Relations was attacked and beaten up with the destruction of the restaurant.
He noted that the suspects also snatched Fadila’s handset while assaulting her at the amusement park.
Continued: “The video of the destruction of the restaurant on social media has, however; undermined the integrity of their master, Satomi.”
He said on receipt of the assault report, the Borno State Government ordered the case be investigated for justice to be done.
The police chief assured residents to cooperate with the police by providing useful information on criminal activities and public disturbances.
Responding, Ahmed in a statement yesterday in Maiduguri, condemned the incident and exonerated himself from the assault on Florida.
“I am deeply saddened by the incident and especially to a woman.
“This is more worrisome, as it was perpetrated in name and position, representing the people of Jere council.
“I want to categorically exonerate my humble self from this alleged act and any of such that will occur in the future.”
“I reiterate the fact that I would never harbour criminals with their acts. I do not support political thuggery as insinuated.”
He added that he supports Governor Babagana Zulum’s policy on banning activities of thugs in the state.
He sympathized with Fadila on the incident and urged the people to be calm, while justice is done to her.
