Police Arrest Three ‘Shila Boys’ for Robbery in Adamawa
The Adamawa State Police Command has apprehended three suspected members of the notorious “Shila boys” gang for alleged robbery in Yola.
Police Public Relations Officer, Suleiman Nguroje, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday, detailing the operation that led to their arrest.
According to Nguroje, law enforcement received a tip-off about five gang members robbing passersby along Bishop Street in Jimeta during the early hours.
“On arrival at the scene, the suspects launched an aggressive attack on police officers using machetes and knives to resist arrest,” Nguroje said. “In response, minimum force was applied, resulting in the arrest of three suspects, while two others managed to escape.”
Items recovered from the scene include machetes, knives, ATM cards, mobile phones, and a tricycle, all of which will be presented as evidence.
Nguroje further noted that the arrested suspects are cooperating with ongoing investigations to track down their accomplices.
The Adamawa police reassured residents of their commitment to maintaining public safety and combating criminal activities in the state.
