Police deploy massive personnel for 2021/22 yuletide in Borno

The Borno State Police Command has deployed massive personnel to ensure the security of lives and property during the 2021/22 yuletide in the state.
The deployment; was to create an enabling environment for the peaceful Christmas and New Year celebration.

Spokesman of Command, Sani Shatambaya, disclosed yesterday, in Maiduguri that the Police Commissioner, Abdu Umar ordered the massive deployment of personnel to provide adequate security across the state.
“The protection of lives and property be during and after the yuletide celebrations in the state,” he said.
He charged the policemen to intensify patrols in collaboration with other security agencies to enhance visibility of policing in the state.
According to him, the personnel should also raid criminal hideouts and black spots to rid their nefarious activities in the Maiduguri metropolis.
He warned motorists and tricycle operators to adhere to traffic rules and regulations, as well as eschew all forms of reckless driving.
He further disclosed that drug abuse and drunk-driving should not be tolerated during the yuletide.
While parents, he said; “Should take care and warn their children against use of knockouts and fireworks,” stating that the law against such activities is being enforced, as offenders will be made to face the law.
“This is to avert incidents of missing persons during the yuletide,” he said.
He added that the 11pm curfew is still in force, including the prohibition of vehicular movement during the curfew hours.
He therefore assured residents of a successful celebration to mark both Christmas and the 2022 New Year.
Umar said that the general public; be law-abiding and security conscious, as well as to support the police by reporting criminal activities promptly to the nearest police station.
On Churches’ protection, Shatambaya said: “The Police Commissioner has also ordered the deployment of officers and men comprising conventional police and other tactical teams of Command to all churches and venues of events.

“Residents are to report any suspicious person or objects to the nearest police station or call the Command on 08068075581.
He urged the personnel to be civil and firm, while discharging their duties.
