Police neutralise 5 suspects of kidnapping, banditry in Bauchi

Police Command in Bauchi state has neutralised five Suspects of kidnapping and Banditry in a gun battle with operatives in the state.
The Command Commissioner of Police (CP) Auwal Muhammad stated this at a news conference on Thursday in Bauchi.
He said during the month under review, the Command has fought tirelessly to raise policing standards which has resulted in significant milestones in combating crime and criminality.

“In furtherance to our avowed commitment to stem the tide of crime and criminalities the command carried out several audacious operations
“That yielded positive results, leading to a series of crime bursting success within the month.
“A combined team of Operatives in conjunction with a quasi-security outfit encounter suspected Kidnappers/bandits in Jamaare,” he said .
The Police added that a shootout took place in the nighttime of 29th August 2023,in the outskirts of Jama’are town.
“The Police operatives, in line with the mandate of Operation Restore Peace (ORP) in collaboration with local hunters,
“Were carrying out routine surveillance and raids of suspected criminal hide-outs, when they suddenly came under gunfire attack from a heavily armed criminal gang.
“The Operatives fought back gallantly, repelling the attack and eventually neutralized five of the gang leaders therein, while the remaining gang members fled,” he said.
He explained that the Command’s intelligence revealed that a group of armed men numbering about ten invaded houses in itas Gadau and Jammare local government areas and carried out their nefarious activities.
“Investigation also revealed that the suspected notorious kidnappers and bandits were responsible for terrorizing Buji, Mashema, Itas-Gadau, Gwaram, Sara, Birnin Kudu, Ningi and Burra areas of Bauchi and Jigawa States respectfully,” CP Muhammad said
He said exhibits recovered are three AK 47 rifles, one SMG rifle, three empty magazines, one hundred and five rounds of live ammunition and one cutlass.
“Investigations into these cases are ongoing,while efforts aimed at arresting other members of the gangs still at large are being intensified,” he said.
The Commissioner commended the operatives for their gallantry and selfless service to the nation and humanity.
