Police Repel Terrorists’ Attack on Borno Division, Recover Arms in Nationwide Operations
The Nigeria Police Force announced the successful repelling of a terrorist attack on the Jakana Divisional Police Headquarters in Borno State.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said the attempted attack occurred on Nov. 28 at about 1:00 a.m. but was met with strong resistance from the police operatives.
“The resistance inflicted injuries on several attackers, forcing them to retreat. One police officer sustained injuries and is currently receiving medical treatment,” Adejobi stated.
The police also reported other security operations across the country. In Sokoto State, a collaborative effort between the Police Command and other security agencies on Nov. 25 resulted in the raid of multiple bandit camps. The operation led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles, magazines loaded with live ammunition, and other weapons. Many occupants fled, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend them.
Similarly, in Delta State, operatives intercepted a group of suspected kidnappers on Nov. 28, engaging them in a gunfight. The suspects fled into the bush with bullet wounds, abandoning an operational vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed three AK-47 rifles, two pump-action guns, an AK-47 magazine, eight rounds of AR ammunition, and 21 live cartridges.
Inspector-General of Police Kayode Egbetokun praised the bravery and commitment of the officers involved. He urged them to continue dismantling criminal activities nationwide.
The operations underscore the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to maintaining public safety and thwarting criminal activities across the country.
