Ramadan: Saudi presents food items to Borno IDPs
Not less than 5,300 disadvantaged households in Borno have received food supplies from the Saudi Arabian King Salman Humanitarian Assistance and Relief Center (KSrelief) in time for Ramadan.
Malam Mustapha Habib, the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), praised the centre for its ongoing humanitarian assistance to Nigeria while distributing the supplies at the Muna displaced persons camp in Maiduguri on Monday.
Malam Abdullahi Adamu, NEMA’s Deputy Director for Planning, Research, and Forecasting, attended the event in Habib’s place.

“Today’s event is very special for being timely during this holy month of Ramadan.
“The KSrelief has donated assorted food items through NEMA, which we are distributing today to 5,300 vulnerable households impacted by insurgency in the state.
“The beneficiaries were identified and profiled by NEMA in collaboration with the Borno State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA),” Habib said.
He stated that a 59.0 kg basket of food products, consisting of 25 kg of rice, 25 kg of beans, 4 kg of masavita flour, 2 kg of tomato paste, 2 litres of groundnut oil, 1 kg of salt, and 0.8 kg of seasoning cubes, will be distributed to each home.
Despite the fact that NEMA and the center’s collaboration dates back to 2018, according to Habib, between 2018 and 2021, the centre provided relief supplies to displaced people in Borno, Yobe, and Zamfara States, saving many lives in the process.
The Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at SEMA, Mr. Ali Isa, spoke on behalf of the Borno Government and praised the timely action that will help the state’s rehabilitation.
Many of the recipients who spoke at the occasion expressed their appreciation to God, the Saudi government, and everyone else who had helped make it possible for them to receive the support, especially during this Ramadan season.
