Rodrygo on Tuesday night scored twice as Real Madrid breezed into the Champions League semifinals, capping a commanding 4-0 aggregate victory against Chelsea and putting an end to a terrible year for the London club.
Rodrygo, who scored twice in the second half to clinch Real’s victory, put Chelsea out of their misery as they attempted to overcome a two-goal lead at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea had 19 chances to score during the game, but they were unable to capitalise, losing for the fourth straight game overall since Frank Lampard, a club veteran, took over as interim manager in place of Graham Potter, who was fired.

Realistically, the Blues have little to play for in the last weeks of 2022–23 other than pride because they have almost no chance of finishing in the top four this season, which means they won’t be in Europe’s elite club competition next year.
To fix a squad that was celebrating winning the European Cup less than two years ago, drastic changes must be undertaken. That is a shockingly poor return on the £600 million the Blues spent under Todd Boehly’s management in the last 12 months.
