Renowned Islamic Leader Jafaru Makarfi Passes Away at 93
Alhaji Jafaru Makarfi, a respected Islamic scholar, community leader, and retired public servant, has died at the age of 93.
The family’s spokesperson, Alhaji Suleman Abdulkadir, announced his passing on Saturday night in Kaduna. Abdulkadir, who holds the title of Garkuwan Zazzau, described Makarfi as a prominent figure in the Muslim community and the Chairman of the Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) in Kaduna State.
Makarfi had an illustrious career in public service, serving as a Commissioner in the former Kaduna State and working with the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) from 1950. He was notably the first Northerner to hold the position of District Superintendent in the Western District of the NRC, a career milestone in his over four decades of service.
His contributions to the Muslim community and public service earned him widespread respect and admiration.
The funeral prayer for the late Islamic leader is scheduled to take place on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at the Sultan Bello Mosque in Kaduna.
Makarfi’s death marks the end of a remarkable life of service, faith, and leadership, leaving behind a legacy cherished by his family, the Islamic community, and the nation.
