Reports of Terrorists Takeover of Training Facilities in Niger Base – DHQ
By Lawrence Bilal Audu
The Defence Headquarters has dismissed reports claiming that terrorists have taken over the Nigerian Army Military Training Area in Kotangora, Niger State. According to Major General Edward Buba, Director of Defence Media Operations, these allegations are entirely inaccurate and do not reflect the reality on the ground.
While acknowledging encounters between troops and terrorists in the area, General Buba emphasized that no part of the training area has been ceded to the terrorists. Ongoing clearance operations have effectively denied the terrorists freedom of action, and the military remains committed to eliminating the threat they pose.
The military has also clarified that its operations in Niger State are specifically targeted against terrorists, contrary to some reports describing the threats in other terms.
In collaboration with the Niger State Government, the armed forces are working to enhance security for citizens and the state. The military is relentless in its pursuit of total destruction of terrorist groups hiding in the area.
This statement comes as a reassurance to the public, dispelling misinformation and reaffirming the military’s commitment to maintaining security and combating terrorism in the region.
