Rural infrastructures key to ending insecurity – Buratai
Former Chief of Army Staff and former Nigerian Ambassador to the Republic of Benin, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusuf Buratai Rtd, has identified infrastructural development as a panacea to fighting insurgency in the country, particularly the northeast region.
General Buratai gave the remarks at the First Convocation Lecture of the Nigerian Army University, Biu in Borno State.
The elder statesman further called on stakeholders and the authorities to look into the construction and rehabilitation of roads for accessibility into the rural and ungoverned spaces which will attract development to stem the tide of insecurity.

“In terms of infrastructure, there several other areas which are inaccessible and contributing greatly to insecurity. Most of the developments are concentrated in the state capitals, it is time for the state governors in the northeast to look inwards and see what they can do to open up the local governments to provide the appropriate infrastructures that will bring development.” He said.
