Russia will support Cuba’s interest in expanding cooperation with the BRICS counties, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said, according to Sputnik.
“We have noted the continued and even growing interest of Cuban friends in cooperation with BRICS. Russia, as the country chairing this association this year, will support this stance. I am confident that other members … will also take a positive view of Cuba’s application for BRICS status,” Lavrov told a press conference in Cuba.
Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel attended the BRICS Summit in South Africa for the first time in the summer of 2023, where he took part in top-level dialogues.
