Senator Lawan empowers 1, 720 Borno constituents with tricycles, others

Senator Kaka Shehu Lawan has empowered 1, 720 constituents in the Central Senatorial District with tricycles and other machines in Borno state.
The distributed empowerment machines, comprise water pumps, grinding, sewing and block-making machines, electric generators and refrigerators.
According to him, the machines will ensure the constituents become self-reliant, during the economic hardships in the state.
Distributing the empowerment materials, on Tuesday in Maiduguri, Governor Babagana Zulum disclosed: “The various empowerment materials are part of Sen. Lawan fulfilment of his electioneering campaigns in the eight local councils of the senatorial district.”

He commended Lawan for completing the state government’s efforts of eradicating poverty and unemployment in the state.
Besides, the distribution, he added that N34 million was disbursed to the beneficiaries to transport the machines and other materials to their communities.
He, therefore, urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the distributed machines, warning that none of them should be sold.
On fighting poverty and unemployment, Lawan said: “During our electioneering campaigns, we promised the people that we would not let them down,” noting that this was despite the economic hardships among the people.
Lawan, representing Borno central senatorial district at the National Assembly, said: “I’ve now started by empowering 1,720 youths in various fields of businesses, farming and livestock production.
“We want to assure the constituents that this is just the beginning of the dividends of democracy.”
He said that he will do his best to cushion the effects of the hardships experienced due to rising costs of living.
Lawan, therefore, assured the people that a constituency office will be established in May this year.
He said this will enable the constituents to interact with him on how to reduce poverty and unemployment among youths.
The legislator, also assured that by the end of his tenure all the electioneering campaign promises will be redeemed with dividends of democracy.
