Shehu of Borno directs clerics to offer special prayers for rain
The Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai El-Kanemi has directed clerics to offer special prayers for rain in the state.
Rain has ceased to fall, in the last three weeks, causing various planted crops to wither with the prolonged dry spells.
Announcing the monarch’s directive for prayers, yesterday (Thursday), in Maiduguri, the Secretary to the Borno Emirate Council (BOEC), Zanna Laisu Kazalma, disclosed: “The Shehu of Borno has called on clerics to offer special prayers/supplications on Friday, July 21, 2023.

“This is to seek Almighty God’s intervention in the delay of rain falls this year in the State,” adding that all the five daily congregation mosques are to offer similar prayers/supplications in all the communities.
According to the monarch, the special prayers are for God’s quick intervention and forgiveness.
He, therefore, directed all the District and Village heads across the state to mobolise the Muslim community in their respective domains.
He noted that the Muslim community should reach out to the poor, orphans and the disabled for regular alms giving.
The monarch, therefore, warned that the Muslim community should refrain from all forms of social vices, by imbibing the teaching of the holy Quran and hadith of Prophet Mohammed,
Parents and guardians were also advised to counsel their children and wards to desist from immoral behaviours, misconducts, social vices and drugs abuse.
El-Kanem, also urged traders and business operators to fear God in all their transactions with the people in the state.
