Shehu of Dikwa flags off polio immunization in Dikwa

His Royal Highness, the Shehu of Dikwa, Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar Ibrahim El-kanemi has appealed to the people in his emirate to make their children available to the health workers for polio immunization campaign across the emirate council.
The royal father made the call while flagging off polio immunization campaign on Break Response in Dikwa town, the headquarters of Dikwa Local Government Area of Borno State.

He further urged the District Heads, Community Leaders, Heads of various organisations, religious bodies, individuals, and families to play a vital role in mobilising their children, wives mothers as well as caregivers to join the polio immunization campaign.
Alhaji Ibrahim Ibn Umar maintained that the immunisation campaign against meningitis and measles have also commenced since last week in the area while commending Governor Babagana Zulum for his commitment and dedication to the welfare and improved health as well as safety of people across Borno State.
The traditional ruler, further, said that the the polio immunization campaign was timely and apt due to the change in weather.
Shehu of Dikwa noted also that “polio is a preventable disease through vaccination. Certainly, immunisation is the best protection against polio; therefore, it is recommended for all infants and children to take the immunisation in order to protect them from the harmful effects of polio disease.
Those who witnessed the polio immunization campaign include the Chairman of Dikwa Local Government Area, Hon. Rawa Gana Modu ably represented by the Leader of Local Government Legislative Council, representative of UNICEF, the coordinator of Primary Health Care Dikwa, District Heads and Ward heads.
Highlights of the event include symbolic immunization of children, photographs and presentation of immunization kits, among others.
