TCN Restores Full Power Supply to Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri Line
The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of bulk power supply to the Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri 330kV transmission line. This development follows extensive repair efforts after a vandalism incident in late September.
According to Mrs. Ndidi Mbah, TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, power was fully reinstated on the Gombe-Damaturu section at 7:25 p.m. on Oct. 30, while the Damaturu-Maiduguri (Molai) segment was reconnected at 2:01 p.m. on Oct. 31.
The restoration came after tower 372 on the 330kV line was vandalized on Sept. 22, necessitating a rebuild and line stringing that concluded on Oct. 23. Initial power restoration efforts were delayed due to the impact of vandalism on the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line.
“TCN urges the public to help combat vandalism of power infrastructure to ensure the reliability of electricity supply across Nigeria,” Mbah stated. She also called on citizens to report any suspicious activities near power installations to security agencies or TCN offices nationwide.
