Teenager granted N100,000 bail for allegedly stealing phones
The police on Tuesday in Lagos arraigned a teenager, Juwo Michael, for alleged phone theft.
The defendant, whose address is unknown, is standing trial on a count charge of stealing before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on June 19 at 3:00 p.m., at the Badagry Roundabout.
Okuoimose said that the defendant stole one iPhone 6 worth N120,000 and a Samsung phone worth N50,000.

He added that the defendant stole a power bank worth N5,000 and a phone charger worth N700.
He said that the items belonged to the complainant, Mr Ayo Opeyemi.
“The defendant travelled to Abeokuta to escape arrest but was arrested by the police when he came to visit his parents at Badagry,” he said.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravenes Section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100, 000, with two sureties each in like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case until Sept. 21 for mention.
