Triumph in Sambisa: Nigerian Army’s Decisive Victory Over Insurgents
In a remarkable display of valour and strategy, the Nigerian Army has achieved a significant victory against Boko Haram insurgents within the notorious Sambisa Forest.
Brigadier-General Abubakar Haruna, the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1, has publicly praised the troops for their successful operation.
General Haruna made that commendation during his visit to the frontline troops stationed on the outskirts of the Sambisa forest in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State.
He highlighted the successful clearance of multiple insurgent enclaves. The areas liberated include Lawanti, Ukuba, Farisu, Sabil Huda, Njimia, Garin Gulukos, Garin Falluja, Shababul Ummah, Garin Pannel Bitter, and Lagara Anguwan Gwai Gwai.
The Operation Hadin Kai Joint Task Force, particularly the Special Forces Troops of the 21 Armoured Brigade, Bama, along with the Civilian JTF and Hybrid Forces, received special commendation for their exceptional performance. General Haruna has encouraged the forces to maintain their current momentum.
In a strategic move to continue the pressure on the insurgents, General Haruna announced “Operation Desert Sanity III,” a 10-day military exercise aimed at eradicating the remaining terrorists from the forest. This operation follows the successful rescue of 383 women and children, with expectations of more surrenders in the near future.
General Haruna’s visit underscores the high level of support and recognition from the military hierarchy, including the Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja, and the Theatre Commander of the North-East Operation Hadin Kai Joint Task Force, Maj.-Gen. Waidi Shuaibu. Their strategic guidance and supervision have been instrumental in the successes achieved by the troops.
The Nigerian Army’s dedication and sacrifice have been pivotal in restoring peace and normalcy to the North-East, marking a turning point in the fight against insurgency.
