Troops Destroy Terrorist Camps in Katsina State, Neutralize Notorious Kingpins
In a decisive blow against terrorism, troops of the Joint Task Force North West Operation Fansan Yamma have destroyed several terrorist camps around Bichi Hill in Katsina State. The operation, which combined ground and air offensives, aimed to dismantle the terrorists’ operations and restore peace to affected areas.
The military action was prompted by credible intelligence revealing active terrorist activities in the area, which had led to assaults on local communities in Danmusa, Safana, and Kankara Local Government Areas on December 19, 2024. The persistent threat from the terrorists had caused mass displacements among local residents, with communities surrounding Maidabino, Yantumaki, and Mara being particularly affected.
The Operation Precision air strikes conducted by the Air Component targeted identified terrorist locations, while ground troops engaged surviving terrorists in a fierce firefight. The terrorists were ultimately overpowered, and additional air strikes were conducted against fleeing terrorists on motorcycles.
Local sources report that the operation resulted in significant terrorist casualties, including the fatal injuries of notorious kingpins Manore and Dogo Nahalle. The destruction of several terrorist camps has crippled their operational capabilities, bringing relief to communities surrounding Maidabino, Yantumaki, and Mara.
The Joint Task Force Operation Fansan Yamma has reassured the public of its commitment to safeguarding lives and urged citizens to refrain from supporting criminal elements. Theatre Commander Major General Oluyinka Olalekan Soyele expressed his resolve to combat terrorism and crime in the Northwest Zone and Niger State, ensuring peace and security in affected communities.
The military has urged the public to provide information on any suspicious activities or individuals, promising to protect the identities of informants.
