In a swift and decisive response, Nigerian Army troops deployed for counter-terrorism operations in Ebonyi State have repelled a brazen attack on Isheke Police Station by suspected IPOB terrorists. The attackers had attempted to torch the facility and destroy several vehicles, but the troops’ prompt intervention foiled their plans.
Upon arriving at the scene, the troops launched a counter-attack, overpowering the terrorists and forcing them to flee in disarray. A hot pursuit ensued, leading to an intense gun battle that resulted in the elimination of five suspected terrorists. Troops also seized several weapons, including a PKT Machine Gun, two AK-47 rifles, a Sub Machine Gun, and a Sienna SUV.
The Nigerian Army has vowed to continue operating in synergy with sister services and other security agencies to combat the terrorists’ activities by IPOB and its armed affiliate, the ESN. The Army urges all law-abiding citizens to remain vigilant and report any suspicious movement or activity to the security agencies.
This decisive victory demonstrates the Nigerian Army’s commitment to protecting lives and property, and its determination to root out terrorism in the region.
