In a significant development in the ongoing campaign against the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN), troops in collaboration with other security agencies have launched a fresh offensive against the group’s camps in Abia State.
According to a military source, the operation, which took place in the Umudi Forest and Umuaku areas of Umunneochi Local Government Area (LGA), resulted in the destruction of several IPOB/ESN camps, including a shrine, and the neutralization of two terrorists.
Troops also recovered a cache of weapons and items, including an AK-47 rifle, pump-action cartridges, Baofeng radios, daggers, strike face plates, phones, solar panel chargers, power banks, and a pair of desert boots, among others.
The operation marks a significant step in the ongoing effort to dismantle the operational capabilities of IPOB/ESN in the region. The security forces remain committed to restoring peace and order in Abia State and ensuring the safety of residents.
