In a daring operation, Nigerian Army troops have dealt a significant blow to terrorist networks in Taraba State, neutralizing a terrorist and recovering arms and ammunition in a raid on Ikiyayo Forest.
According to sources, the operation was carried out by troops of the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation WHIRL STROKE (OPWS) in the early hours of July 7, 2024. Acting on credible intelligence reports, the troops swung into action, targeting terrorist hideouts and camps in the forest.
During the operation, the troops engaged the terrorists in a heavy gunfight, resulting in the neutralization of one terrorist. The troops also recovered an AK-47 rifle, an AK-47 magazine, and 39 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition.
In addition, multiple camps used by the terrorists for planning and executing attacks were destroyed, dealing a significant blow to their capabilities.
