Troops Recover 38 Stolen Cattle from Suspected Terrorists in Sokoto
Troops from the Headquarters 1 Brigade and 1 Battalion have recovered 38 rustled cattle after mobilizing to Kalgo village in Sokoto State, following reports of suspected Lakurawa terrorists in the area. Upon learning of the troops’ approach, the suspected terrorists fled, abandoning the stolen livestock.
The operation, led by the Commander of 1 Brigade, proceeded without incident, allowing the troops to safely recover and return the cattle to their rightful owners in Mera village, Augie Local Government Area, Kebbi State.
Military sources confirmed that operations have been intensified across the region to secure communities and prevent further incursions by the Lakurawa group. This recovery comes amid rising threats by the group in Sokoto, Kebbi, and Zamfara states.
On November 11, armed men believed to be Lakurawa members raided Kura village in Binji Local Government Area, seizing a large number of livestock. Local sources reported that, while the attackers took livestock, they did not harm or abduct any residents.
