Troops recover cache of arms, ammunition, bomb-making materials in Sambisa Forest

Troops of the Special Forces, Operation Desert Sanity II and Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) have recovered a cache of arms, ammunition and six anti-aircraft guns in the Ukuba axis of Sambisa Forest of Borno state.
The ground troops also recovered large quantities of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) making materials and Hilux trucks on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
A counter-insurgency expert, in the Lake Chad region, Zagazola Makama, disclosed, (Monday), in Maiduguri that:
Intelligence Sources told Zagazola Makama, a Counter-Insurgency Expert and Security Analyst in the Lake Chad region that the feats were recorded after troops of 21-Armored Brigade, Bama, Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) and 199 Special Forces Battalion in collaboration with Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), intercepted the terrorists while on an aggressive fighting patrol.

“This led to a heavy gun battle with the terrorists, forcing them to abandon their vehicle, weapons and several IEDs materials,” adding that some the terrorists were armed to attack the troops.
He listed the recovered cache of arms and ammunition to include, six anti-aircraft guns, four AK-47 rifles, large quantities of IEDs making materials, a cache of magazines and a Hilux vehicle mounted with an anti-aircraft gun.
With the joint operations, the troops and members of CJTF cleared the terrorists’ hideouts at a dozen villages in Bama local council of the state.
He noted the troops’ successes underscore the continuing efforts of the Nigerian military to neutralize the Boko Haram threats to restore peace and stability in the Northeast.
