‘What Made Atiku Go To France’
By Abdullahi Ahmad Bamalli
The presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar, is in Paris the capital of France to meet with stakeholders on how to ensure a fair election in 2023.
Malam Abdurrasheed Shehu, Atiku Abubakar’s special assistant on the media, confirmed this to BBC Hausa.
He said that; “Atiku will not go to the UK to reconcile with Rivers Governor Nyesom Wike”.
Earlier, The Cable Newspaper reported that the former vice president will go to London from Paris to meet with Wike tomorrow Friday in London, in an attempt to resolve the problem between them.

But Malam Abdurrasheed Shehu said the issue is not like that, saying that the presidential candidate has already set up a committee to intervene in the conflict between him and Wike, so he does not need to meet with him now.
He added that; “the committee which is chaired by Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State, has already held the first meeting with Governor Wike’s representatives at Port Harcourt where they listened to the needs of the governor of Rivers”.
According to him, they continue to discuss how to overcome the conflict between the two parties.
Atiku Abubakar and Wike have been in conflict since the party’s nomination election was held last May.
Atiku Abubakar won the election with the help of Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal after he withdrew his support for him when the voting was about to start.
According to reports, Wike asked Tambuwal to withdraw for him but he refused, and later he withdrew for Atiku, which made Wike angry.
Another thing that aggravated the disagreement between Atiku and Wike was after Atiku chose Delta governor Ifeanyi Okowa instead of Rivers governor as his running mate.
This action has increased the tension between Atiku and Wike and some governors who support him.
