Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni, has said that 275,358 residents are enrolled in the state’s contributory healthcare delivery scheme (YCHS).
According to him, the scheme is being implemented by the State’s Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (YSCHMA). Buni unveiled the enrolment scheme, yesterday (Friday), at the end of year media briefing in Damaturu.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Alhaji Idi Gubana, stated that 222 healthcare workers are deployed to 24 secondary healthcare facilities to ensure universal health coverage (UHC).
He said: “We also built an ante-natal and VIP ward at the women and children hospital, Damaturu, constructed an accident and emergency complex,” as well as the completion of one-story doctors’ quarters at the State Specialist Hospital, Buni/Yadi.
Besides equipping the health facilities, Gubana added that an MRI software machine was procured for the Yobe State University Teaching Hospital (YSUTH) in healthcare delivery services.
Other MRI machines, he said, included the PV, VAR, and ASSAT softwares to ensure healthcare coverage of residents in the state. Gubana continued: “We also procured and distributed state-of-the art medical equipment to various health facilities,” noting that this will sustain the research on chronic kidney disease that affects some of the Local Council Areas.
Highlighting achievements recorded in the health sector, the deputy governor said noted that the state government won a $500,000 (N800 million) prize for the primary healthcare leadership challenges in the Northeast.
According to him, even the hazards health allowances of workers for this year had all been paid.
