Yobe Launches SOLID Project to Tackle IDP Challenges
The Yobe State Government has inaugurated the Solutions for Internally Displaced Persons and Host Communities (SOLID) project to address the ongoing challenges faced by internally displaced persons (IDPs) and their host communities.
Speaking at the project’s launch in Damaturu, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Baba Malam-Wali, highlighted that the initiative, backed by the World Bank and the Federal Government, aims to deliver long-term solutions to issues affecting vulnerable populations.
“This project goes beyond immediate humanitarian aid, focusing on sustainable development that benefits both IDPs and host communities,” Malam-Wali said.
Mr Suleiman Dauda, the State Project Coordinator, outlined key priorities including improving access to basic services, economic opportunities, and infrastructure development for sustainable community growth. He stressed the importance of government coordination and stakeholder collaboration to ensure the project’s success, reaffirming the state’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and protection of IDPs.
