You’re safe in Gombe, Yahaya assures NYSC youth corps members
Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State, has assured the 1,203 Batch “A” Stream II National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members deployed to the state of adequate security and welfare.
Represented by Abubakar Musa, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, the governor said his administration remained committed to adequate protection of the corps members and urged them to carry out their national assignments without fear.

He said that corps members posted to the state had no reasons to be scared as his administration had put in place robust security arrangement for all inhabitants of the state including NYSC members.
According to him, the security and welfare of corps members in the state has remained a priority for the state government in view of their enormous contributions to the development of several rural communities in the state.
“I wish to reiterate the commitment of my administration to the security and welfare of corps members.
“This becomes necessary considering your dedication and selfless service in the state over the years.
“We have built a formidable security team saddled with the responsibility of keeping the inhabitants of Gombe State safe at all times.
“I therefore allay every fear about the state, relax and carry out your national assignments,” the governor said.
Yahaya while commending the contributions of corps members through community development service rendered in various rural communities in all sectors of human endeavour, urged the newly posted members to sustain the feat.
He tasked them on the need to initiate ideas on how to make positive impact in their hosts communities during their service year.
Earlier, the Gombe State Coordinator of the NYSC, Mrs Ada Imoni stated that a total of 1,203 comprising 741 males and 462 females were swore-in for their orientation course.
Imoni advised the corps members to participate actively in all camp activities, adding that the orientation course was designed to equip them with the needed skills to contribute their quota to nation-building.
She also admonished the corps members to cultivate the habit of reading especially documents being circulated on camp by NYSC officials.
Imoni appealed to camp officials to accord corps members the necessary assistance to make their stay on camp memorable.
“We have been mandated to groom them into refined young men and women and the onus lies on us to not only lead by example but also give our best to make them better citizens,” she said.(NAN)
