Zulum Allocates N209.8m to Boost 170 Primary Health Centers
The Borno State government has disbursed N209.8 million to 170 primary health centers (PHCs) to enhance healthcare delivery at the grassroots level.
Governor Babagana Zulum, who presided over the symbolic disbursement in Maiduguri on Monday, urged local healthcare coordinators and facility managers to ensure effective use of the funds to provide quality services to the people.
“Healthcare is a shared responsibility. While we invest in infrastructure, I urge health workers, community leaders, and stakeholders to collaborate and maximize the impact of these funds,” Zulum said.

The governor also unveiled plans to rehabilitate all PHCs across the state’s 27 local government areas, aiming to bring quality healthcare closer to the people. Additionally, he directed the Borno State Contributory Health Management Agency (BOSCHMA) to enroll more vulnerable individuals into its free healthcare program.
Prof. Baba Malum Gana, the state’s Health Commissioner, described the initiative as a crucial step in improving access to quality healthcare. He emphasized that the funds would significantly enhance both primary and secondary health services in Borno State, benefitting communities across the region.
