Zulum approves N1.4b airport dualisation road project
The Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum, has approved N1.4 billion ffor the alisation of the road to the Muhammadu Buhari International Airport (MBIA), Maiduguri.
According to him, the road project, was to upgrade the Maiduguri airport to an international standards for passenger and cargo flights in the Northeast.
He gives the approval on Wednesday, at the State Executive Council (SEC) meeting held at the Government House, Maiduguri.
Briefing journalists on the outcome of the meeting, the Commissioner of Works, Engr. Mustapha Gubio stated, “The road network will ease the movements of traffic and commuters to the international airport of Maiduguri.”
He said that after completing the dualisation of Airport Road, international flight operation will commence by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN),” as well as the airlift of over 90,000 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
He said that more roads and drainages would be executed in communities of the three senatorial districts.
“Most of the road projects have been completed, including the ongoing laying of asphalt to mitigate climate change.
He noted that most of the roads and public structures were destroyed last September flood.
