Zulum approves water supply, road projects in Bama

Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the construction of a mega-water supply and road projects in Bama township of the state.
According to him, the border community with Cameroon was severely attacked by Boko Haram insurgents before it was liberated by the military in 2017.
Zulum announced the two projects on Friday when he visited the Shehu of Bama, Dr. Umar Kyari Ibn El-Kanemi, at his palace.
The governor lamented that Bama was one of the communities worst hit by Boko Haram between 2013 and 20216. He noted that the levels of destruction to lives and public structures were unimaginable for four years.
Besides the water and road projects, he ordered the establishment of a higher Islamic college in the township. Zullum said the completion of the college will provide formal and non-formal education for the Almajiris (street children) in the state. Despite Bama’s four-year loss of lives and property, he said,
“We’ve made significant progress in our rebuilding efforts in Banki, Darajamal, Mayenti, and other communities with Cameroon.” Besides the homage visit, he assessed the levels of damage in the Abbaram Community, located east of the Mohammed Kur military barrack.
