Zulum bags UN SDGs award in Germany

The NGO Founders Global Network (NGO-FGN) has honoured Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno State as the United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) global champion.
According to the Global Network, the award was an international recognition of Zulum for outstanding contributions to peace-building, humanitarian response and sustainable development in Northeast Nigeria.
The presentation of the award was held on Friday at the annual NGO-FGN ceremony in Munich, Germany. Additionally, the NGO-FGN is also an official and the largest umbrella body of non-governmental and non-profit organisations across the globe.
They had also been networking in all countries by propagating the advancement of UN-SDGs for humanity and society.
Other recognitions of the Global Network to the governor included his relentless efforts in rebuilding communities devastated by terrorists and improving education, healthcare, infrastructure, and livelihoods with various policies and programmes that aligned with the global 2030 agenda for sustainable development.
Zulum, represented by his deputy, Umar Usman Kadafur, expressed gratitude to the organisers for the prestigious international award, pledging that Zulum will continue providing leadership that improves people’s livelihoods and safety in the state.
He revealed that other international awards received by Zulum included Forbes Magazine African Leadership, African Governors of the Year 2023, and Niger’s second highest national award, the “De Grand Officers and I’Ordre”.
Kadafur was accompanied for the award ceremony by Dr Mairo Mandara, the Chief Adviser to the governor and Coordinator on Sustainable Development Partnerships and Humanitarian Response.
