Zulum distributes palliatives to 2, 000 Mafoni households in Maiduguri metropolis

Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state has distributed food items to 2, 000 households in Mafoni ward of Maiduguri metropolis.
According to him, the distribution of the palliatives, was to reduce residents’ hardships of removing fuel subsidy by the federal government.
While supervising the distribution, yesterday (Tuesday), in Maiduguri, the Governor disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu provided 3, 000 bags of rice to be distributed as palliatives to residents affected by the recent increase in fuel pump price.

He said the 2, 000 households are drawn from the 27 wards; comprising 15 from Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and 12 from Jere local council in the state.
He further disclosed that the distributed palliatives comprise 54, 000 bags each of rice and beans, while the vulnerable households will get a bag each of beans and rice.
“The State government is adopting strategies to mitigate the impact of rising cost of fuel on residents,” he said, stating that basic food items continue to remain accessible to the vulnerable population.
Zulum, therefore, expressed gratitude to the President and his Vice, Sen. Kashim Shettima for supporting the State in times of need.
“I want to call on our people to remain calm; as we are doing everything possible to cushion the effects of the ongoing hardships on residents,” he said.
